oh the cold

there's nothing like cuddling up on a couch with lots of blankets on a cold, wintry day.
that is until you have to go outside.
after watching a movie and playing a game at friends tonight I was not too happy to walk out into the cold to go home
my teeth chattered
my whole body shook
and I began to think "and I chose to take Skiing as my PE this semester!??"
oh the cold
makes you think irrational things
like "I bet I could ride that appalcart from one stop to the next just to get out of the cold"
or "how many hand warmers can I put in various pockets all over myself"
or even "I wonder how many days my long johns can go without being washed."

It's even more fun when the cold weather is a surprise, leaving countless individuals who didn't read the fine print of the weather report shivering
like that day last year when I went to class and it was nice and sunny
and I came out to a gray sky and lots of snow!
no heavy jacket on, no gloves or mittens, and certainly no earmuffs

by the way,
there is a secret here on campus as to how to tell the freshmen from the upperclassmen,
it's quite simple actually,
you just look at what they wear in the winter,
the students who look all cute and stylish are the freshmen
the rest of us who are bundled up in anything and everything including earmuffs and a hat or hood,
yea we're the upperclassmen

now I wonder where I left my snow boots.............
